How much does custom framing cost?
The honest answer: it depends entirely on the artwork — its dimensions, the moulding, the glass, the mounting. Since every frame is made to measure in the workshop, there is no standard rate.
Why we don't publish a price list
Because every work calls for its own solution. Our job is to find the framing that best serves your artwork, within your budget, and to offer it at the fair price: that of the work and materials required — no more, no less. Rather than display figures that would not match your project, we prefer to look at your work (or a photo of it) and propose several options, with a real price from the start.
What is certain: workshop prices (no shopfront to pay for), always several finishes to choose from, and a range of standard frames designed for non-profits, students and artists.
What makes the price vary
The dimensions
The price follows the perimeter of the frame and the surface of the glass. A 100 × 140 cm is not four times the price of a 50 × 70… but almost.
The moulding
From a simple light-wood profile to a wide, tinted fine species: the most variable item. We always propose several price options.
The glass
Standard, anti-reflective, UV-filtering or museum glass: from one to five times the price. Our advice depends on the value of the work and its exposure to light.
The mounting
Reversible conservation mounting, marouflage, stretchers, multiple windows: the invisible work that protects the artwork — and shows over time.
The quantity
A series of prints for an exhibition is not priced like a single piece: series qualify for volume discounts.
The mounting substrate
Aluminium, Dibond, with or without UV protection film, recessed subframe or fixings: each finish has its cost and its lifespan.
Artists and professionals: we offer workshop prices and volume discounts on series. See the professionals page.
